Elderly couple stabbed to death

SEREMBAN: An elderly couple was found murdered in an oil-palm plantation in Kampung Gebok, Mantin, near here, yesterday.

The blood-soaked bodies of Muthu Ramasamy, 65, and Rukumami Sengodan, 61, were found with their hands tied and lying on the ground beside their lorry.

A police officer from the K9 unit looking for evidence at the crime scene in Kampung Gebok, Mantin, Negri Sembilan, yesterday.

Stab wounds were found on their necks, heads and abdomens.

The couple had gone to the plantation to check on their crop at 10am when they were believed to have been attacked by two men, armed with knives.

One of the couple's Indonesian workers, who lives in a shed nearby, claimed to have heard loud screams and saw the bodies of his employers slumped beside their lorry.

The worker, in his 60s, claimed he was also tied up and only managed to free himself after the suspects had escaped on a motorcycle with his handphone and the couple's valuables.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Saiful Azly Kamaruddin said a team of police officers arrived at the scene at 12.30pm after receiving a call from the village head.

"Initial investigations revealed the motive was robbery and the assailants were known to the victims."

Saiful said the bodies were sent to Tuanku Jaafar Hospital for a post-mortem.
