SEREMBAN: A van driver and 13 students were injured when their vehicle was involved in an accident with a 10-tonne lorry along the Mantin-Lenggeng stretch, near here, yesterday.
The 13 Form Six students from a school in Port Dickson were on their way back to the seaside town after a two-day camping trip at Bukit Broga, Semenyih, Selangor, when the accident occurred about 2pm.
Police said the accident occurred when the 25-year-old van driver lost control of his vehicle.
"The van then hit a lorry parked on the opposite side.
"The students along with the van driver suffered injuries and were sent to Seremban Hospital. The lorry driver was unhurt," a police spokesman said.
Five students suffered serious injuries.
The lorry driver, R. Appavoo, 47, said he was on his way to Pantai, near here, from Nilai when the accident occurred.
Seremban deputy police chief Superintendent Mohd Yusoff Awang urged anyone with information to contact police.
